The second swing of the 2014 Symetra Tour season took us to Florida for two weeks. We started in Lake Wales, FL for the Florida's Natural Charity Classic. Let's just say there was plenty of Florida's Natural Orange Juice to go around all week! Katie and I ended up with wonderful host housing for the week and they lived right on a lake about 15 minutes from the golf course. We were able to get out on the lake and do some kayaking after one of the practice rounds. The next day we had the privledge of hearing Charlotta Sorenstam (Annika Sorenstam's sister) speak about a body friendly swing as a part of the Symetra Tour's new partnership with the ANNIKA Academy. Each tournament we play in Florida for the rest of the season will host an ANNIKA Academy Developmental Session that will teach us about fitness, nutrition, and much more. It was a very fun learning experience all week and although we both missed the cut, we really appreciate the help of all the sponsors, Symetra Tour staff, and volunteers!

The next week we headed North to Longwood, FL for the IOA Golf Classic. As soon as we arrived at Alaqua Country Club, we jumped at the chance to take a picture with the huge IOA Golf Classic sign hanging from the clubhouse. After that, we headed to our host housing for the week. Our wonderful hosts came out to watch us play two of the three days. They had two dogs and two cats so of course we had fun playing with the pets at night! One of the first nights we were there, Katie and I were invited to the Big Break Florida Viewing Party. At each Symetra Tour event when a new episode of Big Break comes out they host a viewing party that week with many of the actual cast members attending. We met a lot of people and had a great time! The next day we participated in the second ANNIKA Academy Developmental Session where Kai Fusser (Annika Sorenstam's Personal Trainer) talked about fitness and weight training for women's golf. It was great to hear how he trained Annika during the peak of her career and what he might have done differently looking back now. The tournament also allowed us to support finding a cure for ovarian cancer and the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance by wearing teal for "Teal it Up Thursday." It was a week full of events and some great golf with us both making the cut and bringing home a paycheck!
My traveling didn't end there though! As soon as we made the drive home from Florida, the next day I jumped on a plane to California to see some friends and help them with a golf clothing bazaar for my benefit. My host housing from first stage of Q School last fall was gracious enough to host a fundraiser with the profits going towards my golf expenses., I spent the week organizing clothes and spending time with great friends. The Kraft Nabisco Championship happened to be going on the same weekend, so we were able to enjoy great golf on our off time as well! It was a very fun week and I am so thankful for the connections this game continues to make for me.
